Should you change your tires with the seasons? Really?

Yes, switching to winter tires is generally worth it, especially in areas where temperatures drop below 45°F (7°C) or where snow and ice are common. Here's why:

  1. Improved Traction: Winter tires are made from softer rubber compounds that remain flexible in cold temperatures, providing better grip on icy and snowy roads compared to all-season or summer tires.

2. Enhanced Braking Performance: Winter tires have specialized tread patterns that channel snow, ice, and slush, leading to shorter stopping distances in winter conditions.

3. Safety in Cold Temperatures: Even if there’s no snow, cold temperatures make the rubber on all-season tires harder, reducing their effectiveness. Winter tires maintain their performance in the cold, improving overall safety.

4. Reduced Hydroplaning: The deeper treads on winter tires also help reduce hydroplaning on wet or slushy roads, keeping you in better control during winter conditions.

5. Cost-Effective in the Long Run

: Using winter tires in the colder months and regular tires in the warmer months extends the life of both sets, spreading out the cost of tire replacements over time.

If you drive in a region with severe winters, investing in winter tires is a wise choice for safety and performance.
